Over 20 years of success

What started out in 1998 on a 2000 m² production site has developed today into a company that employs around 200 people manufacturing high-quality awnings, glass roofs and components for sunshade products in a plant covering over 22000 m².

A lot has changed since business administration graduate and current managing director Götz Albrecht Lewens established the company Lewens Sonnenschutz-Systeme GmbH & Co. KG in Ludwigslust. The high quality standards and meticulous craftsmanship with which the made-to-measure products are manufactured have remained the same, however. "Made in Germany" is more than just a phrase: now as back at the beginning, Lewens' production is a fully integrated operation extending from design and fabric make-up to assembly.

Perfectly formed in design and construction

Lewens has its own team of designers, with good reason. It operates according to the principle of "Form follows function" espoused by the Bauhaus, because the smooth, perfect functioning of an awning is an important guarantee of reliability and durability.

The Lewens designers always work with an eye to current trends, however. And when developing new models, what the customer wants forms an important source of inspiration: the more unusual, the more interesting, always on the basis that nothing is impossible!

High-grade materials, well thought-out design and precision in cutting and parts production are the basis for the perfect operation of our products. Computer-aided automation assists the production process.

Brilliant materials and colours

The latest techniques are used In the making-up plant for distortion-free sewing and ultrasonic bonding. Awning fabrics are made up completely flat, not folded.

In the ultra-modern powder coating facility, the metal components of the awning and glass roof frames receive their chosen finish. There are hundreds of RAL colours and textured finishes to choose from. A wide range of the latest colours forms part of the standard specification, at no extra cost.

A cleverly conceived roof - and a system to match

The glass roofs in the Murano series come in a variety of styles and configurations: compact and modern or traditional with roof overhang, laterally flush or with recessed posts, as a glass roof pure and simple or with integral awning. Complementary sliding glass panels and permanent glazing complete the range.
