Award for Excellent Product Design

The 2022 winners have been announced: the Lewens Portofino awning has been recognised with the German Design Award “Gold” in the “Gardening and Outdoor Living” category.

The German Design Council (GDC) gave the “Gold” award for Excellent Product Design to the Portofino awning, which successfully combines excellent design with outstanding innovative technology.

The most important award of the German Design Council

The German Design Awards are the most important award of the German Design Council. Encompassing a global spectrum and renowned internationally, they are among the design awards held in the highest regard throughout the industry. Since 2012, the German Design Awards have been identifying and recognising definitive trends in design and presenting them to a wider audience. The “Gold” award is the highest award, which is given for excellent, holistic and innovative design achievements. Winners of the “Gold” award are leading pioneers who provide vital stimuli for entire industries.

Versatile and perfectly shaped

The Portofino awning provides optimal shade and comfort all year round. It was specially conceived to create shade for glass roofs, conservatories and patios. The awning comprises extruded aluminium profiles and a ZIP system with patented balance spring technology, ensuring a taut sit of the awning fabric, greater wind security and unbroken shade from the sun.

The Portofino is extremely versatile and is available as an interior ZIP awning or as a pergola-type awning with columns. The modularity of the system makes it possible to order in any dimensions up to 30 m² without additional support profiles being required for the pergola model. Optional comfort features such as io wireless remote control and LED lighting integrated into the casing can also be added to the Portofino awning.
